We are pledging it forward!
Giving back to the community has always been important to all of us here at Step Forward. Many of our Associates have been involved in numerous fundraising events around the world: we have raised money through running marathons and other sporting events, we have supported our children’s schools through yearly fundraising events and we’ve been involved in multiple causes dear to us. More recently, our team has contributed in supplying the National Health Service workers in the UK with face shields when there was a shortage.
There is a reason companies like Salesforce have donated hundreds of millions of dollars to schools, nonprofits, and hospitals. They don’t just see themselves as a business—they see themselves as residents of the community and helping build that community as part of their duty.
We also strive to live by the same philosophy.
It was obvious from the start that we should also give something back to the community through our company and scale our contribution as our organisation grows. Therefore we decided to join other like minded companies at the 1% pledge about a year ago and made a pledge to donate 1% of our profits to a cause we can all believe in.
Pledging our 1%
Pledge 1% is a global movement to create a new normal where giving back is baked into the DNA of participating companies of all sizes from the very beginning. Globally, over 1,000 companies in more than 30 cities have already pledged 1% to non-profit causes and programmes.
Having completed our first successful fiscal year, after a long debate we have decided on pledging the 1% of our profit to UNICEF, the long respected agency of the United Nations. Since 1946 UNICEF has been providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide in the following areas:
Disaster aid
Fighting against child malnutrition
Vaccination of babies and children against preventable diseases
As of recently, focusing on minimising the impact of Covid-19 on children.
We’ll be sharing more details here on the blog and on our social channels, so stay tuned.
